Avid are a world renowned manufacturer of mechanical and hydraulic disc brakes for the bicycle market. They are wholly owned by the SRAM Corporation who bought them in 2004 and were integrated into the company while retaining the brand name. SRAM also owns other names like Rock Shox, and TruVativ, having gradually acquired them in the early 21st century.The Avid names continues to be a force majeure in the world of bike brakes and makes some of the most recognizable names in the business. There aren’t many mountain bikers around who haven’t heard of the Avid Juicy, Elixir or Code or even owned a set.The Code and Juicy range are regarded as one of the best performing hydraulic disc brakes around for the money and are often suggested as upgrade items on decent bikes. The fact that Avid then goes on to offer excellent after-sales service, including guides, videos and other interactions with their customers further endear them to riders.
