Avanti ReviewÂAvanti are the largest bike manufacturer in New Zealand and one of the most famous in Australia. Riders would be forgiven if they had yet to hear of them though, because their presence on the world stage has been decidedly muted until now. The company insists they are slowly gaining ground with international distributors and their bikes should be making their way across the world soon.Avanti manufacture a very wide range of bikes from MTB, race, BMX, women specific and commuters. All are made with custom Avanti frames and Shimano fittings, anything from SRAM to the new Dura-Ace components to make everything move the way it should. The top of the range MTB, the Competitor Team is an all-carbon frame with DT Swiss wheels, Easton bars and seat post, SRAM XX running gear and an FAS Aheadset. The road bikes are what Avanti are really known for, especially their Quantum Team, which although isn’t the lightest bike in the world, is regarded as one of the best riding bikes in the world. The all-carbon frame and Dura-Ace components weighs in at a little over 7kg, which is heavier than many other racing bikes at this level.Avanti are definitely a premium brand, the higher end of the product range concentrating on racing. However, their BMX and MTB brands are affordable and are considered mid-range by Australian riders. ÂModelsÂ
