Alpha-Q by True Temper Review

Alpha-Q by True Temper manufactures performance bike forks and other lightweight components. The world headquarters is in Memphis, Tennessee with plants in Amory and Olive Branch, Mississippi and Guangzhou, China. The first Alpha-Q fork was hand-made in a small studio in San Leandro, California in 1994. Since that humble beginning, Alpha-Q forks have garnered acceptance as an industry leader in ultra-light bike forks and components. These forks feature the patented Carbon Rooting Technology which allowed Alpha-Q to create the first carbon forks in the biking industry as well as forks that weigh less than 300 grams.

Alpha-Q forks also feature an integrated steerer right in the fork body. This is accomplished by utilizing a rooting technique which provides continuous fiber throughout the body of the fork which results in an incredible stiffness and excellent strength. The development team at Alpha-Q is led by former aerospace engineers, triathletes, and competitive cyclists.

Although Alpha-Q by True Temper is known for ultra-light carbon forks, they also have a line of other bike components that offer the same lightweight carbon construction. In addition to the four models of forks, other components offered by Alpha-Q include: Handlebars, Stems, seat posts and bottle cages and lids.

The handlebars come in either the XROC off-road series that offers strength, optimal weight and control or the ProLite road handlebars that are more performance driven. The ProLite bars are ergonomically and aerodynamically designed to offer the highest performance and comfort while being lightweight and durable. Both types of handlebars have been designed to allow for trimming of the bar ends up to one whole inch for individual customization.

The stems and seat posts are both constructed with strength and performance in mind. These components follow the Alpha-Q mantra of being ultra-lightweight and extremely strong to offer higher attainable speeds.

Alpha-Q is considered higher midrange to high end in price. Forks range from $379 to $569 US, handlebars from $84 to $299 US, seat posts from $79 to $149 US and stems are $49 US.
