ACS ReviewAmerican Cycle System, which is usually referred to as ACS BMX, is located in Duarte, California. The company was founded more than thirty years ago by engineers Robert Hanson and Charles Stephens. Prior to beginning their new company, the two engineers had specialized in aerospace design. Keith Stephens joined the company in the 1990s after spending time as a test rider and exploring the retail and manufacturing side of the business. When the company first opened, the primary focus was on hubs. In the 1980s, they began to include innovative freestyle parts that were well received at the time by the cycling community. They continued to introduce new products on a regular basis, but many of them are no longer in production for a variety of reasons. Today the company continues to focus on freestyle bikes but creates parts for racing bikes as well. The range of products has grown from hubs to include wheels and tires, Bike Tight, and a variety of smaller components. Currently, the company is not one of the more well known in the field but they do have a steady following. The company tends to attract enthusiastic amateurs rather than those more concerned with professional level competition. Models
