In 2001, Scott Road Bikes were one of the first to create a frame that weighed less than 1000 grams. From then forward, the company has pushed the limits of lightweight designs creating some of the most sought after models in the world. In 2003, Scott Road Bikes took another step toward decreasing frame weight with the CR1 series. The CR1 series weighed in at just under 900 grams. Again in 2007, Scott Road Bikes managed to slim their cycle frame even more and produced a frame weight less than 700 grams. Scott Road Bikes uses an Integrated Molding Process when creating their cycle frames. This process, when coupled with Naked External Tubeset is what allows the lightweight designs to become a reality. Naked External Tubeset is the process of removing the cosmetic carbon sheath.

Scott Road Bikes are created by Scott Sports. Scott Sports currently manufacturers six different bike styles. These are the racing, performance, triathlon, city / urban, women's and women's triathlon. Each style offers a unique set of characteristics to meet the need of the sport. Racing bikes, for instance, are designed with efficiency and weight in mind. City bikes, on the other hand, are created with everyday riding and commuting in mind. All Scott Road Bikes are created to work optimally in the given situation. Therefore, performance bikes are not created for commuting and vice versa.

Scott Road Bikes are not just available for adults. There are junior models available for young people wishing to train for junior competitions or ride with mom or dad. Junior models are available from 12” to 24” making cycling an outdoor activity the entire family will love.

In 2010, Scott Road Bikes brought out few new models for biking enthusiasts including the Addict RC. Women's cycling also saw the introduction of three new Scott Road Bike models in 2010.
