Scott Mountain Bikes Review

Scott Mountain Bikes is a company based in Idaho that manufactures and sells mountain biking, running, motocross, wintersports equipment and apparel. Since its inception in 1958, Scott has been an innovator in biking and skiing engineering. Scott can take credit for introducing the first aluminum ski poles, the first aerodynamic handlebar for biking (used by American Greg Lemond to win the 1989 Tour de France), the first suspension fork, the first full-suspension mountain bike and many other firsts. Scott Mountain Bikes offers several lines of bicycles, including racing, trail, mountain, street and women’s. Scott Mountain bike models include Spark, Genius, Ransom, Voltage, Contessa and Gambler, and are available from the official website and from other online and offline retailers. Popular searches for parts include Avid brakes, Shimano derailleur, and FSA crankset.

Scott Mountain Bikes’ website is busy flash website with a lot going on, but it is still fairly easy to navigate. The homepage has running commercials, which can be very distracting when you are trying to find a particular product. Each model’s webpage has its own description of its technology, specs, diagrams of the geometry, close-up photographs and links to purchase. The website offers technical resources such as owner’s manuals for its bikes, contact information and FAQ’s, however it does not state what the manufacturer’s warranty is for Scott bikes. Apparently, there are different warranties offered on each bike model.

This website offers few features besides just selling its products. The company offers videos of its products and news of sponsored teams but does not offer any kind of community forum for Scott bike owners or mountain biking enthusiasts. Scott also has an RSS feed and a newsletter.

The range of mountain bike models offered at Scott seems to fit every mountain biking need. Also, there are not nearly as many models of women’s bikes as there are men’s bikes, and there are only two models of mountain bikes available for women, Contessa Sport and Contessa Race. Replacement components do not seem to be available on the official website.

Tthere are no customer reviews or testimonials available from its website, and few actual customer reviews of Scott bikes are available on other websites. Scott Mountain Bikes are known for their design and engineering.
