Mirraco BMX Bikes Review

MirraCo BMX Bikes are developed by BMX athlete Dave Mirra. Before MirraCo began in 2007, Dave Mirra was sponsored by other major BMX bike manufacturers GT Bicycles and Haro. Living on the west coast did not bode well for Dave Mirra, so a move to the BMX capital of the East Coast, Greenville North Carolina, meant leaving GT Bicycles behind. After sporting Haro gear for a few years, Dave Mirra decided to start MirraCo and currently competes under the sponsorship of his own company.

Even though MirraCo BMX Bikes is a relative infant in the BMX world, the bikes are created to meet even the most stringent professional guidelines. MirraCo BMX Bikes offer four varieties of frames and complete bike builds – Park, Street, Trails and Kids. MirraCo BMX Bikes also offers a line of performance parts to upgrade a current BMX bike or build your own. Parts include grips, pedals, forks, handlebars, cranksets, sprockets, and seat covers. These parts are sold under the Black Label brand.

MirraCo BMX Bikes are produced mainly with Cromo frames. There are no aluminum frames of bikes offered by Dave Mirra’s company. Kids BMX bikes are created from high tension steel. The heavier weight which would be a negative for professional BMX bikers offers a bit more strength for the most destructive little athletes.

All MirraCo BMX Bikes weigh between 24 and 29 pounds. Even the kid’s versions of the bikes hold this much weight due to the steel frame. The heaviest bike is the 20Forty trail bike weighing in at 29.2 pounds.

In 2010, MirraCo BMX Bikes brought out a new version of the Black Pearl – a trail bike. MirraCo BMX Bikes is known for their affordability. While they will retail higher than recreational BMX bikes found in most major retail stores, there are plenty of models falling in the $300 US range.
