Marin Mountain Bikes Review

Marin Mountain Bikes is a line of mountain bikes offered by Marin, a bicycle manufacturer based in California. The company is named after Marin County, California, where mountain biking first gained popularity. Marin offers several lines of bicycles, including full-suspension, hard-tail, road, street, path, kids and women. Marin Mountain bike models include Mount Vision, Attack Trail, Quake, Team Titanium, Team CXR, Team Issue, Team Marin, Indian Fire Trail, Nail Trail, Juniper Trail, Palisades Trail, Hawk Hill, Bear Valley, Bobcat Trail, Pine Mountain, Alpine Trail, Bolinas Ridge, Pioneer Trail, Alcatraz, San Quentin, Terra Linda, Treviso, Ravenna, San Anselmo, San Rafael, Larkspur, Kentfield, Bridgeway, Redwood, Stinson, Lagunitas, Hearts Desire, Bayview, Hidden Canyon, Muir Beach and Tiny Trail. Marin Mountain Bikes are available from the official website and from other online and offline retailers.

Working with engineer Jon Whyte, Marin has innovated many new technologies in bike racing, including single-pivot rear suspension, travel and ride adjustable suspension and quad link suspension. Marin is also known for using steel frames although titanium, aluminum and carbon-fiber frames have risen in popularity. Marin Mountain Bikes have won awards from Mountain Bike magazine and Mountain Biking magazine.

Marin Mountain Bikes’ website is slow-loading and difficult-to-navigate, with links scattered all over the homepage and a top menu that expands to cover the screen when you roll over each link. Each model’s webpage has specs, close-up photographs and a description of series. The website offers an entire page just dedicated to explaining the technology behind Marin Bikes, the geometry of the bikes and the hydro edge tubesets. Resources for its customers include owner’s manuals, contact information, safety and recalls. Marin offers a limited lifetime warranty on its frames. Marin’s website also has a 10-minute video about the history of the company.

Marin also has websites on Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, as well as a YouTube channel and a blog with RSS feeds. Marin is one of the rare mountain biking companies that has a page dedicated to environmental awareness on its website, including tips on carbon reduction. Replacement components are not available on the official website. There are no customer reviews or testimonials available from its website, but there are many positive customer reviews of Marin Mountain Bikes available on other websites. Customer reviews generally agree that Marin Mountain Bikes are rugged, long-lasting if more uncomfortable and less visually appealing than other mountain bike brands.
