GT stands for Gary Turner, who was a drag racing car welder who first re-engineered BMX bikes in the 1970’s so his son could win races and later partnered with Richard Long in 1979 to create GT Bicycles. When BMX racing declined in popularity in the 1990’s, GT became an innovator in mountain biking, which was exploding as a mainstream sport.

GT Mountain Bikes offers several lines of bicycles, including mountain, road, BMX, women’s and kids. GT Mountain bike models include Fury, Force, Marathon, Sensor, Zaskar, Avalanche, Outpost, Peace, Aggressor, Ruckus and Chucker. GT Mountain Bikes are available from the official website and from other online and offline retailers.

GT Mountain Bikes’ website is fast-loading website that is extremely easy to navigate. Each model’s webpage has specs, diagrams of the geometry, close-up photographs and a description of features. The website also offers an entire page just dedicated to explaining the technology behind GT Mountain Bikes. Resources for customers commonly found on other mountain bike websites such as owner’s manuals and contact information are located on its Support page, but some unexpected surprises include assembly videos, glossary, FAQ’s, a troubleshooting guide and even information on how to finance your purchase. The website, however, does not state what the manufacturer’s warranty is for GT bikes. Apparently, there are different warranties offered on each bike model.

Another innovation from GT is its demo offers.
