Felt Fixed Gear ReviewJim Felt created Felt Bikes out of an idea born in the 1980s. As a Motocross rider, Felt slowly noticed how spending hours on the Motocross bike took its toll on his body. He chose cycling as a source of fitness and the desire to create custom bikes was born. Today, Felt Bikes offers various different cycling frames and complete builds, including Felt Fixed Gear models. They also sell their own parts such as stems, forks, and handlebars. Felt created his first frames in the early 1990s. These frames were custom built out of a home garage for his own use in cycling races. For several years, small numbers of frames were created by hand, but Jim was not willing to let his new found passion be limited by garage space and small output. After pairing up with GT Bicycles and RockShox, Felt Bikes took flight in one of the world’s largest BMX markets – Germany. Today, Felt Bikes are sold all over the world with the United States division being run by several infamous cyclists. The name Felt has grown to be associated with higher end frames and complete builds, including Felt Fixed Gear models. Popular searched parts are Felt pedals, Felt seatpost, Felt handlebars, and FSA headset. In 2010, there are only six types of Felt Fixed Gear bikes being sold. Two are track bikes and the remaining four fall into the Felt Fixed Gear general category. Nearly every cycling sport is covered with a Felt Fixed Gear model. Speed riders can choose the Gridlock, while cyclists who love to land a trick or two can focus more on the Brougham. The Curbside is a retro bike that is also a Felt Fixed Gear. While the Felt Fixed Gear series is the smallest group being sold with the Felt name, the future is bright. Felt plans to keep these models in the catalog and design new Felt Fixed Gear models in the years to come. ModelsPricingFelt Fixed Gear bikes range in price from $400 US to $1200 US.
