Brake Pad Parts ReviewEnjoying the open air on your bike provides a feeling that is hard to match with any other activity. Part of bike riding includes general bike repair and maintenance. There may be times when you need to do some repair work on your bike as well. Brakes are one of the most important parts of your bike because they help you slow down and stop when you need to. It’s a good idea for anyone who rides bikes often to learn about brakes and their parts. Well, brake pad parts are a good place to start. When first choosing, use a popular brand such as Avid brake pads or Clarks brake pads. Brake pad parts may consist of some of the following parts: Disc brake pads, V-brake pads, bike cantilevers and calipers, brake pad mounting hardware, pad inserts only, disc brake rotors, and other brake pad components. Hayes brake pads are easily indentifiable and are long-lasting.
What It’s For
Brake pad parts are the individual parts that make up your bike’s braking system. Pads, like Tektro brake pads and EBC brake pad are a good place to start. The brake pads are what squeeze against your bike rim or disc rotor to make your bike stop when you apply the brake lever. Some pads are rubber with a metal backing. These pads are used on cantilever brakes or v-brakes, both of which are considered rim brakes because they stop against the bike’s tire rims. Disc brake pads squeeze against the disc rotor on both sides and slow down or stop your bike. Jagwire brakes come in different assortments depending on your brake type. Brake pads mount differently, depending on the make and model of your bike and specific brake pad parts. For example, there are two different pad types typically found for rim brakes or cantilever brakes. One is a bolt on style, while the other is a push fit style. Bolt on pads are usually made out of one piece of material, with the pad and bolt or post attached directly to the back of the brake pad itself. The push fit brake pad is made of two pieces which are the pad holder and the pad. These pads come out by either pulling out the holding pin that keeps it in place or removing the Allen screw. Some bike brake pads are available as inserts only, so you don’t have to but the entire caliper unit too. The other main part of the bike’s brake system is the caliper that holds the pads in place and clamps open and shut as you squeeze the brake lever. Major Manufacturers
Delta, Shimano, Winwood, Kool Stop, Odyssey brake pad and Hope pads.
