BMX Pegs Review

For those who enjoy riding BMX bikes, performing tricks is an every-day thing. One must have item for the BMX bike is bike pegs. In the past, bike pegs were simply used as a means to support you feet while you were cruising. Some kid’s bikes still have regular bike pegs, but on a BMX bike, pegs are used for a different purpose: to perform amazing tricks.

BMX bike pegs come in a variety of styles, colors and sizes. The important thing is to remove your old ones or take your bike in to a professional bike shop if you’re not sure of the correct part. BMX pegs also come in different size lengths, depending on the size of your feet. Some more expensive BMX bike pads are flat on the top and then circular on the bottom, while less expensive models are completely rounded all the way around. Axle sizes vary, so pay attention to the size. Primo pegs differ in shapes and size, but give bmx riders an ultimate selection.

What It’s for

BMX bike pegs, such as Odyssey pegs, are to support the feet and even the entire body weight of the rider while he/she performs aerial tricks on the BMX bike. Typically BMX pegs are used that are more flat on the top, with some kind of ribbing or textured surface, so the feet and weight of the body grips better when it’s being applied to the BMX pegs. Most BMX riders prefer pegs that are the non-slip type, which means that the peg is not free to spin on the axle, but is permanently mounted in one position. This is much safer when the rider is performing tricks and can prevent slips and falls. One may find the permanently mounted Black Ops pegs as a great option to prevent accidents.

BMX riders may place their whole body to one side of the bike, while standing on one peg. Or they may stand on both pegs, while either facing forward or backward in order to perform freestyle tricks. BMX pegs are also used when ring BMX bikes in concrete or wood skate parks to perform aerial tricks as well. One popular trick is to flip the whole bike and body around in a 360 degree circle. Some BMX bike pegs have straps that hold the feet onto the bike while the rider performs the trick. This is similar to bike pedals with straps that you see on street bikes.
