Hybrid Bikes Review

A hybrid bike is one that combines features from a road bike and a mountain bike. It can be used on surfaces both paved and unpaved, on dirt paths or mountain trails. Hybrid bikes usually have higher handlebars, which give you a more upright posture than road bikes. They also have bigger wheels like a road bike and fatter tires much like a mountain bike. Hybrid bikes come in 4 general variations.

The cross bike is very similar to a road bike as it has a similar frame as well as flat handlebars that give you an upright riding position. This bike is intended for general recreational use. The cross bike has the large road bike-type tires and has wider tires than those on most racing bikes. These bikes are tailored for use in tougher environments such as unpaved bike trails, littered roads, hard-packed sand, etc.

The commuter hybrid bike is designed for commuting in both long and short distances usually for rougher environments such as dirt paths, paved and unpaved roads, etc. These come with the same size wheels as the cross bike and also usually come equipped with a carrier rack, full fenders and a frame which allows you to attach load-carrying baskets through certain mounting points. There is usually also a chain guard, which allows the rider to wear long pants without having to worry about tangling their pants. This also helps with the rider not cutting himself or herself on the chain. These bikes also come equipped, usually, with both front and rear lights that can be used in the morning or night.

Much like the commuter bike the city bike is also used for commutes. These bikes are generally for urban commuting. The city bike has a body more similar to a mountain bike both with its wheel size and its seating position. The bikes tires and chains are built to deal with potholes, drainage grates and other urban hazards. These are built to handle quickly and weave through heavy traffic. Front and rear lighting systems are usually optional on a city bike.

Comfort bike is a modern version of a roadster. These also have a frame similar to that of a mountain bike. It’s plush fabrics and comfortable seating positioning makes this bike more of a joy to ride but less “tough” for adverse weather and riding conditions.
