As biking becomes more popular, many schools are taking steps to enhance the bike friendliness of their campuses. This year, the League of American Bicyclists recognized 20 colleges in a list of Bike Friendly Universities. Stanford University took the top spot on the list and received the only platinum award. Dedicated to promoting safety and sustainability, Stanford offers numerous bike education programs, incentive programs, and an extensive cycling network. Other schools that ranked high on the list are the Universities of California Davis and Santa Barbara, which both received gold awards.
