Bikes are composed with multiple and important bike parts like pedals grouped into categories. Among these categories are the bike’s saddles and seat posts. Saddle is the bike’s seat. It is called saddle because it only bears some amount of the biker’s weight while the remaining weight is distributed in the arms and legs. Every biker needs a comfortable bike saddle for them to drive properly and comfortably. There are no certain guidelines used in picking the appropriate bike saddles. It should be done by considering the biker’s comfort especially in cycling for long hours.
The saddle should not be too hard or too soft, it should be just right to provide comfort and adequate support. The width of the saddle should also be the same with the width of the biker’s seat bones. Narrow saddles can cause the seat bones to hang along the side and the soft tissues will bear the weight. Wide saddles can cause inner thigh chafing especially in hot weather. But sometimes, mismatched saddle width is caused by improper adjustment.
To provide more comfort, the height of the saddle should also be adjusted. This is based on the biker’s height or perhaps, the biker’s preference. Most beginners usually start with low saddles then as time goes by, the height can be increased gradually.
